What is the best lobster roll recipe? That depends on who you ask. This one is the best as far as we are concerned. We make them a couple of times a week throughout the summer.
What is a lobster roll?
Lobster rolls are a popular seafood dish that originated in New England. They typically consist of a warm, buttered bun filled with chunks of fresh lobster meat. There are several different types of lobster rolls, each with its own unique twist on the classic recipe. Here are a few examples:
- Classic lobster roll – The most common type of lobster roll, this version features a warm, buttered bun filled with chunks of lobster meat mixed with mayonnaise, celery, and seasonings.
- Connecticut-style lobster roll – This type of lobster roll is similar to the classic version. The biggest difference is you warm the lobster meat in melted butter rather than mix it with mayonnaise.
- Maine-style lobster roll – Unlike the classic and Connecticut-style versions, the Maine-style lobster roll is typically served cold and features chunks of lobster meat lightly dressed with mayonnaise and lemon juice.
- Lobster BLT roll – This version of the lobster roll adds bacon, lettuce, and tomato to the classic recipe for a delicious twist on the original.
- Asian-inspired lobster roll – This fusion-style lobster roll incorporates Asian flavors like sesame oil, ginger, and soy sauce, and may also feature other ingredients like avocado and cucumber.
The Kiss my Cookbook version of a lobster roll combines classic elements with a modern twist. We like ours served with a side of Cape Cod chips. Before you make this recipe, you’ll want to follow the directions from our previous recipe, “How to Boil and Eat Lobster.”
